Following up on yesterday’s theme of chilling out in Florida, here is TopRetirements.com’s 2012 list of the 10 worst states for retirement. This year the criteria were: fiscal health, property taxes, income taxes, cost of living, and climate. A new feature added this year was a page for customizing your worst states by eliminating some of the requirements which aren’t consequential to you.
Topping the list is Connecticut, whose extremely high taxes and cost of living caused it to edge out its numerical tie for #1, Illinois. Wisconsin brings up the rear at #10. This is a worthwhile article for all those in the looking around state of preretirement.
