To impress your next date with your understanding of modern art, consider taking a self-guided or instructor-led online course at MoMA. An example is Catalysts: Artists Creating with Sound, Video, and Time, taught by media artist Randall Packer. The works of artists such as Bill Viola, Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, Bruce Nauman, Vito Acconci, and Joan Jonas are streamed into MoMA’s online classroom. Art critics, artists and MoMA curators Paola Antonelli, Klaus Biesenbach, and Barbara London, offer their outlooks on the importance of these compositions. “Students will be “doing” as they are learning: each week offers a DIY media project to complete and discuss with fellow students.” And, this offers another chance to meet someone new.
